Usage
SUCROSE MONOLAURATE is a nonionic surfactant with multiple uses, mainly including:
1. Food industry: Sucrose dodecanoate can be used as a food additive, such as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and anticrystallizing agent, to improve the taste of food and extend its shelf life.
2. Cosmetics: In cosmetics, it can be used as an emulsifier to help mix oil and water and make stable emulsions and creams.
3. Pharmaceuticals: In the pharmaceutical field, sucrose dodecanoate can be used as an excipient for drugs to help improve the solubility and stability of drugs.
4. Biochemical research: In the laboratory, it can be used as a nonionic detergent for the dissolution and extraction of cell membrane proteins, such as removing β-adrenergic receptors from turkey erythrocyte membranes and removing muscarinic acetylcholine receptors from pig atria.
In addition, sucrose dodecanoate can also be used as a chromatographic stationary phase for the separation and analysis of compounds. It is sensitive to humidity, so it usually needs to be stored at 2-8°C and protective measures such as argon filling should be taken to maintain its stability.
