Usage
Methanesulfonic acid is the simplest alkyl sulfonic acid. Colorless liquid. Easy to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in organic solvents. Strong acidity with a pKa of -0.6. Not hydrolyzed in hot water or hot alkaline solution. Methanesulfonic acid can be formed by the oxidation of methyl mercaptan or dimethyl disulfide with oxygen or nitric acid. It can also be prepared by a solution of sodium sulfite and dimethyl sulfate in water at 100 ° C.
Usage:
Methanesulfonic acid is a caustic chemical substance, abbreviated as MSA, which has broad application prospects in the field of electroplating and has been proven to be a good substitute for fluoroboric acid or phenolic sulfonic acid. It is a raw material for medicine and pesticides, and can also be used as a dehydrating agent, coating curing promoter, fiber treatment agent, solvent, and catalyst for washing, esterification, and polymerization reactions.

Storage
Methanesulfonic acid is a corrosive chemical that requires safety measures during operation, such as wearing chemical protective gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing.
When using or storing, keep away from sources of fire and high temperatures, and avoid contact with oxidants.
When using, ensure a well ventilated laboratory environment and avoid inhaling its vapors.
