Glutaraldehyde is widely used in industry. First of all, it is a fast, efficient and broad-spectrum bactericide, widely used in petrochemical industry, paper making, metal processing, oilfield water injection and other fields. Glutaraldehyde is also an intermediate of organic synthesis, a tanning agent in leather industry, and an egg white cross-linking agent. Glutaraldehyde is a quick acting and broad-spectrum chemical sterilizing agent. Low concentration of glutaraldehyde aqueous solution at room temperature can show activity to many microorganisms, and has a high sterilization effect on reproductive bacteria, viruses, mycobacteria, pathogenic molds and bacterial spores.
