 Usage

4-isopropenyl-1-cyclohexenemethanol, is a viscous oily liquid with the odors similar to those of linalool and terpineol. It exists in oils such as gingergrass oil, lime oil, lavandin oil and spearmint oil. Due to its fragrant aroma, it is often used as a blending agent for food flavorings and additives. As a monoterpene drug for the treatment and prevention of cancer, perillyl alcohol has unique therapeutic effects in the treatment of tumors such as ovarian tumors, esophageal cancer and breast cancer.

It is used to imitate citrus, vanilla, and fruit-flavored food flavorings and daily chemical flavorings or to make acetate esters. The effect of perillyl alcohol can inhibit the occurrence of tumors and reverse the formed tumors. In the initial stage of tumor formation, it can not only reduce the probability of tumor occurrence but also decrease the types of tumors that occur. It also has a reversing effect on the already formed breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, etc. Perillylic acid and dehydrated perillylic acid rather than perillyl alcohol can be detected in the serum just 10 minutes after oral administration, suggesting that it exerts its anti-cancer effect through metabolites in the body.
