Usage
It is stipulated in GB 2760—96 as an edible flavoring agent permitted for use. It is mainly used for compounding fruit-flavored essences such as those of melons and citrus fruits. Cyclamen aldehyde has an aroma similar to that of cyclamen and lilies. It has little irritation to the skin and is stable in alkalis. It is used for compounding floral daily-use essences. Low-grade products with relatively low aldehyde content are used in soap and detergent formulations, while high-grade products with higher content are used in perfume essences. Lily aldehyde has a tendency to replace cyclamen aldehyde. Toxicity: The oral LD50 for rats is 3,810 mg/kg. Used for flavoring It is widely used in various essence formulations. Appropriate amounts can be used in all sweet and fresh floral essences to enhance the top note of fresh floral fragrance as well as to create a smooth and long-lasting feeling. It has good aroma coordination with ionones and rose flavoring agents. It can also be used in trace amounts as an edible flavoring agent. It is used in citrus and various fruit-flavored types. Cyclamen aldehyde is a food flavoring agent permitted for use according to the "Hygienic Standards for the Use of Food Additives" in China. It can be used for compounding edible essences of melons and citrus fruits. The usage amount is 1.2 mg/kg in baked foods, 0.99 mg/kg in candies, 0.45 mg/kg in cold drinks, and 0.3 mg/kg in soft drinks.
