 Usage

Butyric anhydride is mainly used as an acylating reagent in organic synthesis. It can react with alcohols, phenols, amines, etc. to form corresponding esters, phenyl ethers, amides and other compounds. Butyric anhydride can also be used as a raw material for coatings, dyes and plastics. Butyric anhydride can be prepared by reacting butyric acid with acetic anhydride. The reaction conditions are usually carried out under acidic conditions and at low temperatures. Butyric anhydride is irritating and corrosive and may cause irritation to the eyes, skin, respiratory tract and digestive system. During operation, care should be taken to avoid contact with the skin and eyes, and ensure that the operation is carried out under well - ventilated conditions.

It is a colorless and transparent liquid with an unpleasant odor. The relative density is 0.9668 (20/20℃), the melting point is -75℃, and the boiling point is 198℃. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ether. It decomposes into butyric acid when encountering water. It reacts with alcohols to form esters. It is a colorless, transparent and flammable liquid. It is soluble in water and decomposes to form butyric acid, and it is soluble in ether.
