Usage
1,3,5-Adamantanetriol has good chemical stability and is not prone to chemical reactions under normal circumstances. The chemical reactivity of this substance is mainly concentrated on the three active hydroxyl groups in its structure, and these three hydroxyl units have chemically equivalent reaction sites. Although there are three equivalent hydroxyl groups, some studies have shown that one of the hydroxyl groups can be selectively subjected to a halogenation reaction, thereby introducing different functional groups into the molecule to expand its chemical diversity. In addition, due to the nucleophilicity of the hydroxyl groups, this substance can undergo an acylation reaction with acyl chloride compounds to obtain the corresponding ester derivatives.
1,3,5-Adamantanetriol is mainly used as a basic reagent for organic synthesis and is applied in basic organic chemistry research. Due to the large steric hindrance of the carbon atoms on the adamantane ring in 1,3,5-adamantanetriol, it has certain particularities in organic synthesis. This large steric hindrance property can be used for the structural modification and synthesis of organic ligands. In organic synthesis, large steric hindrance groups can affect the regioselectivity and enantioselectivity of reactions and have good applications in basic chemical research on asymmetric catalysis.
